Triple Sec Martini
Triple sec is basically a Curacao liqueur that is made from the peels of oranges. Triple sec is a French term and it means triple dry and it is one third times sweeter that the normal Curacao liqueurs. Sun dried peels steeped in a concoction of alcohols for about a day or so make this Curacao which is used widely in the art of mixology.
Here are a few triple sec martini recipes that you can try out at home.
The first one is a simple triple sec martini and requires the following ingredients:
- 20 ml of Absolut vodka
- 20 ml of Absolut citron vodka
- 20 ml of Absolut kruant vodka
- Sprite or 7-up soda
The method of preparation is as follows:
- Take all of the above ingredients in a glass and mix together well using a stirrer. Add ice if desired.
- Serve. This is a drink that is meant for a hot summer night.
The next recipe is one known as the A1 cocktail and it is made using the below mentioned ingredients:
- 1 ounce of gin
- 1/2 ounce of orange liqueur (triple sec)
- 1 dash of freshly extracted lemon juice
- 1 dash of grenadine syrup
The method of preparation is as follows:
- Take the gin, the orange liqueur, lime juice, the grenadine syrup as well as few pieces of ice in a cocktail shaker and mix thoroughly.
- Mix them well until they drink is well blended.
- Strain the drink and pour it into a martini glass.
The next recipe which makes use of triple sec as one of its ingredients is the Acapulco. It uses the following ingredients:
- 1 1/2 ounce of light rum
- 1 1/2 tsp of triple sec
- Dash of lime juice
- Powdered sugar
- An egg white
- Mint for garnishing
Preparation is as follows:
- Take the rum, the triple sec, freshly extracted lime juice and a tsp of powdered sugar along with the egg white in a martini shaker will with ice and shaker and shake well. Make sure that the white has blended, if not shake the mixture will it is done properly. Now strain the mixture using a strainer into an old fashioned glass lined with ice.
- Add mint and serve.
