Raspberry Martini Recipe

The raspberry martini is a variation of the ever so popular and well loved martini cocktail, and even though it doesn't resemble its predecessor in taste, it certainly does in personality. The raspberry martini blends the wonderful strength of vodka with the dream-like, fresh, and sweet-sour flavor of raspberries to create a highly temperamental drink that can be relished all through a night of partying and entertainment.

The raspberry martini contains vodka and raspberry liqueur (you can also use raspberry flavored vodka for a stronger aroma), to which you can add some lemon-lime soda to enhance the slightly sour note, but also the sweetness, and to give it a bit more roundness. These ingredients are to be used as follows: 2 parts Vodka, 2 parts raspberry liqueur, one part lemon-lime soda. If you are using raspberry flavored vodka, you can also use 3 parts of vodka, 1 part of liqueur and 1 part of lemon soda. Mix these ingredients together with some crushed ice, and (unlike with other martinis, where robust mixing can prove to be a problem, it's not the case here) shake them well so the flavors have a chance to combine.

You can rim your glass with sugar (either white or brown) and you can serve the cocktail (after straining it so that the ice is no longer present) with fresh raspberry pieces. If you can't find any fresh raspberries, you can also use the frozen ones that can be found in supermarkets. While the effect isn't quite the same, they can still be quite nice. As an experiment, you can use the frozen raspberries in place of the ice when doing the mixing; the effect can be very much to your liking. As with any cocktail, recipes are mostly guidelines, and the secret in finding the ideal balance of ingredients lies in experimentation.
