Most people at their workplace are happy on a Friday, the weekends approaching and the thoughts of not facing your boss for two days rejuvenate you. The happy feeling disappears on a Sunday afternoon, with thoughts confirming you've got to face your boss for five days. A great way to relax on a Sunday is making a Martini Monday. This cocktail is extremely refreshing, easy to make and can change the tone of your day. The tangy flavor and sensual color of this cocktail not only relaxes you, it changes your mindset about the way you approach things. Martini Monday has a fruity flavor that is ideal for a Sunday afternoon.
This is a watermelon based cocktail. Watermelons are easily available. Here's how it's prepared.
Martini Monday (Watermelon Monday)
- 2 oz (60ml) Vodka
- 7 ml sugar syrup
- 1 watermelon slice chopped fine
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
- 5 to 6 ice cubes
Pour the sugar syrup and vodka in a cocktail shaker. Add the finely chopped pieces of watermelon and ice. Add lemon juice if you want an extremely tangy flavor. Place the cocktail shaker at an angle on the palm of one hand and rotate it gently with the other. After two complete rotations make sure you shake the cocktail shaker for a minute. Use a strainer to strain the drink into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a small slice of watermelon on the rim of the martini glass.
Once your Martini Monday is ready, sit back and sip the cocktail slowly. The murky red color is pleasing to the eye, and the taste, divine. Ratio of ingredients you use in your cocktail depends entirely on your taste. If you're nervous about the upcoming presentation on Monday make sure you use 3 oz of vodka and 7.5 ml of sugar syrup. Although there is no particular day you need to have this cocktail it is ideal for a lazy Sunday afternoon to ward off the Monday blues.
