Dry Vodka Martini
There are many people who claim that they have the knowhow of mixing an appropriate classic dry vodka martini. But this is not the case as they do not follow the simplest of all rules which says that the martini needs to be stirred and not shaken. This is important as shaking and stirring of the martini release the flavors of the drinks and thus please the palate. Shaking a drink when you require it to be stirred will cause unnecessary flavors to buildup and cause and unpleasant taste.
Here is a simple recipe for a classic dry vodka martini. The ingredients that are needed are as follows:- Four ounces of vodka
- A teaspoon of dry vermouth
- Lemon peels and green olives for garnish
- Ice cubes
The method of preparation of this dry vodka martini is as follows:- Chill a cocktail or a martini glass while you are making the martini.
- Fill a martini shaker with ice till it is half full.
- Now twits a lemon peel over the ice so that the volatile oils mix with the ice.
- Pour in the vodka and the vermouth over the ice cubes.
- Stir the mixture but do not shake, this is totally different from the classic bond martini.
- Strain the drink into the chilled class martini glass and add two green olives to it.
- Serve
The other version of this drink is patent to the Bond movies and calls for the same ingredients excepting the vodka in whose place we add gin. The procedure is simple and comprises of mixing the ingredients together in a shaker filled with ice cubes. The drink is then strained into a deep champagne goblet and not stirred. A lemon peel or an olive is used for the purpose of garnishing.
Dry vodka martini defines a drink or drinks for that matter that have a small amount of vermouth added to them. Extra dry martini drinks are those drinks that are made by rinsing the glass with a copious amount of vermouth.
