Dirty Martini Recipe

The Dirty Martini is one of the most common variations of the classic martini. It is called dirty because of one ingredient: the olive. The Dirty Martini has a greater olive flavoring than the straight Martini which only has olives soaking in it.

Here are some common recipes for Dirty Martini:

Dirty Martini 1

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 tbsp dry vermouth
  • 2 tbsp olive juice
  • 2 olives
Method:
Place ice cubes with a small amount of water in a cocktail glass. Place the glass in a freezer for about 2 or 3 minutes. Put all the ingredients in a Martini Shaker along with the garnish. Shake vigorously 3 or 4 times. Take the chilled cocktail glass from freezer and empty it. Strain the contents of the Martini shaker into the cocktail glass including one or more of the olives and serve.

Dirty Martini 2

Ingredients:
  • 3 oz vodka
  • 1 oz dry vermouth
  • 1/2 oz olive brine
Method:
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with an olive, and serve.

Dirty Martini 3

Ingredients:
  • 6 ounces of freezing Absolut or Absolut Peppar.
  • 1 teaspoon of Noilly Pratt vermouth.
  • 6 Picholine olives stuffed with crumbled bleu cheese.
  • Toasted almond slivers.
Method:
Pour your Vodka into a well chilled shaker. Put a couple of drops of vermouth into 2 frozen martini glasses, swirl the vermouth around the glasses and then pour it out. Add freezing vodka into the glasses. Insert an almond sliver into each stuffed olive and spear 3 per toothpick and gently slide them into the glass. Feel free to substitute the almond/bleu cheese stuffed olives with jalapeno stuffed olives.

These days there are a number of ready mixes available to make a Dirty Martini. All you need to do is add the ready mix to your vodka and gin, add olives as garnish and serve.
