Difference Between Martini And Dirty Martini

The martini is a fantabulous cocktail! Ask any regular bar counter enthusiast and he or she usually swears by the concoction. There are many variations of the drink and the main difference between martini and dirty martini, a variant, is the addition of olive brine. Like the regular base drink, this one too is made with vodka as the base spirit and a flavoring agent. However, when it comes to flavoring and garnishing the drink, the olive brine rules large!

The Dirty Martini is a classic variation full of the goodness of olives. Just the right amount of olive brine needs to be filtered through the martini strainer to get one of the best cocktails ever. The main difference between martini and dirty martini is brought out by this stringent and exotic taste. Unlike the regular martini, where depending on the favoring agent and color the garnish could be the olive 'out' of the brine, in a dirty martini the brine is added to the drink. It is pivotal for any bartender to understand the difference between martini and dirty martini because a number of party animals know the variation and will identify a blip almost immediately.

Vodka, gin and vermouth remain the base spirits for martini that most bartenders prefer. Over the years, the difference between martini and dirty martini has given to the world the best-known alcoholic beverage, enjoyed across bar cultures. 'As perfect as the sonnet' and 'potion of quietude' are two of the most well earned epithets by a dirty martini! In a list of favorite cocktails, this one is among the top thee internationally. Unlike the standard martini which is a mix of vodka coupled with dry vermouth and some flavor (lime, raspberry, vanilla, cinnamon etc), the 'dirty' version influences popular metro culture considerably more. It is most preferred as an accompaniment while playing bar card, dice and board games.
