Classic Martini
The classic martini came into being after the books written by Ian Fleming depicting the social life of the famous British agent 007. The drinks that he sipped on made an impact on the audiences of the yesteryears and continue to do so even today. Classic martinis are made using gin and vermouth as the base ingredients though at times vodka and a variety of other ingredients can also be used in place of the gin and vermouth.
Here are a few classic martini recipes that can be easily mixed and concocted at home.
Classic Martini
The ingredients for the classic martini recipe below are as follows:- Three ounces of amaretto almond liqueur
- Three ounces of sweet and sour mix
Preparing the sweet and sour mix:
Ingredients:- Water
- Sugar
- Juice of a lime
Take one cup of sugar and add it to two cups of water in a vessel and place the vessel on the gas. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely. Add in the lemon juice and stir for a minute or two. Taste the syrup and add lemon juice or sugar as per your taste.
Remove from the heat and keep it aside to cool until it is used.
Preparing the drink:- Take the almond liqueur and the sweet and sour mix in a mixer filled with ice and combine until the flavors are well blended.
- Strain into a martini glass and serve.
Classic, Classic Gin Martini
A classic, classic martini recipe requires the following ingredients:- Gin
- Vermouth
- An olive
Take one and two thirds ounce of gin, one third ounce of vermouth and pour over ice place in a deep champagne goblet. Garnish with a stuffed olive and serve it straight up.
Classic Citron Vodka Martini
Ingredients include:- Absolut citron vodka
- Lime juice
- Sugar
- 7 up soda
Take an ounce of the absolut citron vodka in a highball glass filled with ice cubes. Top up the glass with 7 up and lime juice and add sugar as per your taste. Garnish using a twist of lemon or a lemon wedge and serve.
