The Martini has long been associated with class, elegance and sophistication. It evokes images of glitz, glamour and sophistication. A harmonious blend of vermouth and gin, the martini is usually garnished with an olive or occasionally a twist of lemon peel. The gin is some times substituted with vodka and is called a Vodka Martini or Vodkatini. The cocktail has a tangy flavor to it and can be quite potent if consumed in large quantities.
